The Real Spirit of Halloween

As October comes to an end, the air feels a little colder, the nights a little longer, and the world a bit more mysterious. Everywhere we look, there are pumpkins glowing, people dressing up, and spooky stories floating around. But have you ever wondered why we celebrate Halloween at all?

Long before it became about costumes and candies, Halloween began as an ancient Celtic festival called Samhain. It marked the end of harvest and the beginning of winter, a time when people believed the boundary between the living and the dead grew thin. To protect themselves from wandering spirits, they lit bonfires and wore masks. Over time, the Christian church turned it into All Hallows’ Eve, which later became Halloween.

Today, the meaning has evolved. Halloween is no longer about fear. It is about fun, creativity, and imagination. It is a reminder that we can face darkness with laughter, art, and a touch of mischief.

So whether you celebrate it with spooky makeup, scary movies, or just the warm glow of a pumpkin candle, remember that Halloween is more than a Western tradition. It is about letting go of the ordinary for a night and stepping into a world where imagination rules.

Happy H a l l o w e e n !
