I have
ASHOK Adhikari
Howrah, West Bengal
I have the clouds that soar up high,
In peacock feathers, kites that fly.
With rice glue mixed with glassy grain,
I’ll fly away where math’s in vain.
I have the river where I swim,
Diving deep with fish so slim.
The kingfisher sits with sleepless eyes,
The lazy noon where silence lies.
I have my mother’s smile so sweet,
Like rhymes and hugs when we would meet.
When sunlit rain through Kash does play,
The rainbow paints the sky all day.
I have the fields I sneak to see,
Where Ranu’s tales bring joy to me.
In sleepy dreams, I misspell words,
But feel my mother’s kiss that stirs.
